Cayden busted his head

Friday June 7th 2013.  Jakob and Cayden were playing in the living room with a hooks hoop and then they started fighting over the hula hoop after I told Jakob to take it to the garage. Jakob ended up letting go of the hula hoop while Cayden still had a hold of it and Cayden fell backwards and hit his head on the time out chair. At first I thought he was fine and just bumped it but then I went to touch the bump and my hand got sticky I noticed his head was bleeding so I took him in the kitchen and sat him by the sink and cleaned his head up and the got a paper towel and put pressure on the wound to stop the bleeding and we went and sat on the couch a couple of minutes later I decided that I should take him to the Er incase he needed stitches thankfully no one was in the waiting room so it didn't take very long to be seen. When the doctor came in to check him out he said that he was going to use a staple to close to close the wound ad said he could get help if he thought he needed it an I said that he would so he left the room to get help. All the while Jakob is freaking out because he did not want his baby brother to get a staple in his head he kept saying staples were for paper not people. The doctor and the nurse and two others came in to help hold cayden and I took Jakob out of the room so he wouldn't freak out anymore and a couple of minutes they were done But Cayden screamed the whole time he did not like being held down and he did not like the doctor messing with him. He had to keep the staple for 7 days and then he should be able to get it removed this has been a crazy week.

15 months old

Life has been busy and I know I havent updated the blog in awhile but hopefully i will get better at this and not forget to post in awhile. Anyway Cayden is now 15 months old, on his birthday we moved in to our new house in Fort Leonard Wood we are all hopeing tjat we will be here for at least 3 years Cayden can now walk and he is deffinately a climber he climbs all over everything he trys to climb on the back of the couch he scares me every time he oes stuff like that we have been bateling ear infections with him he currently just got over a double ear infection but still has luid in his left ear so we go back on th 2nd of june for a check up on the fluid and his 15 month check up Cayden was weighed on Monday the 9th of May and he was 20ibs 15oz and 30in long he is getting so big. If his ears are not clear when we go back or if he gets another infection we will have to go see the EENT.

Cayden 14 months

Cayden is now 14 months old and he is currently cutting 4 teeth and has 4 already cut through. He sleeps through the night on most nights and he does not nap very good during the day though and that sometimes causes a rough night he has been waking up earlier everyday. I hope he starts napping better soon i know he needs his sleep. He went to the dr for his 1 year check up on the 1st of april and he weighed 20ibs and was 30 inches tall. His checkup was late because we moved and had to figure out who his new dr was and then schedule the appt which took time. We moved from ft stewart georgia to fort leonard wood mo at the end of january and we moved into our house on Caydens first birthday. Cayden is walking some now im sure it wont be long until he is running all over the house. He is starting to stand and let go of the things hes holding on to and walking halfway accross the living room.

Cayden is sleepy

Cayden 1week and update...

Cayden is now 1 week old, he is still in the NICU at the hospital. Over the last week he has lost weight every single night until tonight... I have been out of the hospital since Thursday, and i have been going and visiting Cayden 3 times a day since then, i breast feed him for 10 mins and then I bottle feed him as much as he will take. Today he drank for 10mins from the breast all 3 times, the first feeding at 9am he drank and additonal 38cc's at 3pm he drank an additional 25cc's and at 9pm he drank and additional 35cc's he is getting better about eating. He is now taking 45cc's at every other feeding so it will not be long now before he gets to come home. His nurse tonight thinks he could be home before his daddys b-day on sunday. I really am hopeing that is the case.


Update

Cayden came home from the hospital on Thursday, Febrauary 25th he weighed 4ibs 13oz that night I stayed with him all day Thursday and he ate really well. He went to the dr, on tuesday March 2nd he was 2weeks old and he weighed 5ibs 1 oz and was 18 ans 3/4in on that day. On March 9th he was 3 weeks old and went to the dr and he gained more weight he was 5ibs 9oz. On March 16th Cayden turned 1 month old and he weighed 6ibs 1oz and was 20 1/4 inches. On wednesday march 17th saint patricks day Cayden's original due date he had his circumsicion done poor baby. He did really well and i was so proud of him. Cayden is eating really well every 3 hours sometimes its 2 or 2 and a half hours but he is doing really good. Cayden has been sleeping good at night only waking up every 3 to 4 hours to eat which is really good because i dont want him to go to long between feedings until he gains a bit more weight. He has outgrown some of the smaller preemie clothes but he can still wear a lot of the bigger preemies and the newborn clothes are still really big on him. I moved him up to newborn diapers because of his circumsicion because i didnt want the preemies to be smooshed on him.

Welcome to the world Cayden Ray Jenkins!

Cayden Ray Jenkins, was born on February 16th 2010, just about 9 hours after my water broke with him. The night before he was born i wasnt feeling all to well, i went to bed and tried to go to sleep but i couldnt. I got up and decided to go get a sprite to drink and some club crackers i thought maybe if i settle my tummy a bit i'll be able to sleep. So i ate some crackers and drank my sprite i finally fell asleep somewhere around 1am. My alarm was set so i could take Jakob to occupational therapy that tuesday morning. I woke up looked at my phone and it said 8:15 i thought i got time to sleep a bit more so i went back to sleep and about 8:45 about 15 mins before my phone went off at 9am i woke up. When i got up i noticed my pants were cold and wet, i immediately thought that i had peed the bed, i thought what in the world i couldnt have so i went to the bathroom and realized that i hadnt peed that my water had broke. I went back to my room and told corey to that i needed my mom to come here he asked me why and i told him i think my water just broke. He got my mom and she came in and we both had decided i needed to go to the hospital that indeed my water had broke especially after i changed 2 pair of underwear and they were soaked. I got a wash cloth and put between my legs in hopes to not get to wet on the way to the hospital. The baby's bag wasnt packed and neither was mine so my mom and i were scrambiling around trying to get things ready all the while i could feel more water. I got really thirsty so i had my brother and corey make me some water before we left the house i drank 1 and a half glasses full. My mom took me to the hospital and i said this is great we dont even know where we are going when we get there. We had no idea where labor and delivery was at the hospital, but we figured we had to go through the main entrance. My mom dropped me off at the front doors and she went and parked i waited on a bench until she came walking up we then went inside. On our way up the elevator she was trying to get pictures but i just felt completely weird. When we finally got to L&D they asked what was up and we told them my water had broke they asked me how many weeks i was and who my dr was. I told them 35weeks 6 days and my dr is Dr scow. They weighed me and i weighed 168.6 i was amazed that was 2ibs different from 2 weeks before that when i had my last drs appt. I got my room they asked me a few questions and told me to put a gown on and that they wanted to check my underwear to make sure that it was my water that had indeed broke. They put the babys heartrate monitor on and then the contraction monitor and eveything was going pretty good Cayden's heartrate looked good but my contractions were not very strong. The nurse decided to check me to find out how far dilated i was and at 10:30 she said i was only 2cm dilated and 50percent effaced. Since my contractions were not that strong the dr decided i needed to be started on pitocin if i werent it could have been a very long day/night and it could have ended in a c -section so i said ok. When the nurse tried to start my IV she could not get the IV started she looked at both of my arms and decided she would try in my right had she stuck me twice and dug around a bit both times and decided she would let some one else do it. The other nurse came in and decided to use my left arm. She found a vein and put an 18gage needle in my arm and my arm started to immediately bruise but they left it in anyway. When the other nurse started my iv i got a really sharp pain in my arm but after a few mins the pain went away. The nurse started my pitocin and the contractions started getting a bit stronger nothing painful at all and about an hour later the dr came in. When she checked me it was just before 12 and she said that i was at 3 to 4cm and 80percent effaced. They came and bumped my pitocin up every hour after that and sometime in there they started the anitbiotic the nurse came in and said we have to start one of these every 8 hours until you deliever but i dont think you will need more than one. At 2pm i was checked again and I was at 4cm 80 effaced i then thought it was going to about 9pm that night before i had him. I was talking to James on the computer at the time and since i thought it was going to take awhile, i told him that he should get some sleep and that we would take pics for him and send to him. I told him just because your having a baby doenst mean you can miss out on work to sleep. We both would have loved for him to be home but Cayden had other plans. At 4:00 my contractions started getting painful so i went ahead and asked for the epidural, it was done at 4:30 and i had a problem while it was being done so i had to be stuck twice. At 5:15 momvcalled corey to have him bring some things tovthe hospital and the nurse checked me and told me i was at 9 with just a little cevix left over so mom told corey and posted on facebook that i would have him within the hour. Corey got there just before 5:45am and said what no baby yet and he left so he could go bowling. Then the dr came in when he looked to check me he said oh he has a head full of black hair and the nurse asked if she should get the bed ready and he said yes so the dr got his gloves and gown on got the bright lights sat on his stool and apologized and said his hair wasnt as dark as he thought. Dr. Scow told me on my next contraction to push so we waited just over a minute and i pushed i pushed a total of three times and he was out. Cayden was born at 5:55pm. I was able to talk and be calm i was not stressed out therefore he wasnt stressed his heartrate was good through most of the delivery we had maybe two times that it dropped to 120 but when i moved a bit it came right back up. His dr says hes doing good his breathing is great he is tolerating food but he refuses to suck so at every feeding they try to feed him and then they feed him by feeding tube. Cayden's dr also says he spit up a bit last night and that he like his mommies milk better than the formula.
